Many times we often find ourselves having to answer to people and try equating ourselves to them at random. This we do without taking into consideration exactly where we as individuals want to go and see ourselves in the future. You are the measure of what and where you want to see yourself at any point in your life. Just ensure that your goals are in line with basic moral principles.
I am a Christian, I have learned and know how important my plan should be in line with what and where God wants me to be or do. I do not detach my view from that and so should you with God as your motivating factor. All I am encouraging you to at least consider is, "be the measure of your dream and vision life in line with the principles of God". Do not conform to the random principles that people lay for you. Follow and master your own destiny and make your mark in any social setting you find yourself.
This does not suggest by any means that break the law or do anything amoral just to satisfy your zeal to meet your destiny. Your destiny is very much attached to your desire to get to it; thus ensure at the end of the day your desire lead you to becoming the deal maker or breaker. Do not easily get discouraged because someone is not or does not want to view things the way your passionate self looks at things. Dance to your own tune because at the end of the day all that matters is how the melodies synchronise in your mind.

I am not by any means encouraging you not to take other people into consideration and their suggestions, lest you make people uncomfortable with imposing your way all the time. Be considerate; as far as your own comfort does not make the next person suffer. Note I did not say 'uncomfortable' but 'suffer'. It is your duty to live harmoniously and at peace with others; but not your task to make anyone love you or get comfortable with you; it is their choice. In as much as you are the measure of your own destiny, just be careful not to make other people miserable in the process. They might not like the zeal in which you approach your destiny or goals but do not make anyone suffer and miserable. They do not have to understand. Set standards and limits for the attainment of your vision and goals; just remember you see the vision and not everyone sees what you see.
