TIME WASTED IS GOLDEN

“Time is one of the greatest teachers but unfortunately it kills all its students” - Louis Hector Berloz 1803.

A lot of us are unaware that we live on borrowed time so to speak; any visions or dreams we have planned to achieve have to be fulfilled before it runs out or before it is taken away, literally. Many of us postpone a lot of things that would perhaps give us the life we want or answer the dreams and visions we have. We procrastinate with the mind-set that we will look at it later; we will get time to do it there is no rush and forgetting that later might never come.

One important thing to consider is that, “time wasted is golden” and getting it back is never an option. May be it is one chance in a million one may be tempted to think. That is a lie, it is not even a possibility, once it is gone, and you will never get it back. The chances you get can never compensate the time you lost. If it does come, it is never the same as before. Why not use every single opportunity you have to make the best out of each second, minute and hour. There is no painful thing as regretting never using your time wisely and postponing everything for later.

Paulo Coelho sums up this point nicely in one of his novels The Alchemist, "Postponing things for later is like promising yourself or others what you do not have yet, therefore in the process you lose your desire to work toward getting it." At the end you risk wasting a lot of time. The courage to move forward and attaining your goals and dreams is entirely on you, receiving the fruits of that is for you to enjoy. So stop procrastinating, thinking that things will turn out great and it is just a matter of time. NEVER, whose time are you talking about? Is it the same time that you and I are unable to control? Remember this is borrowed time!

The dreams you have cannot and will never be achieved without putting the necessary effort to make them come true. Take note also that, your dreams and goals are connected to TIME; the amount of time you invest in them also concludes the results you get. If you invest an hour into a lifetime vision or dream you will surely get an hour’s worth of it. Some people have a million ideas in their heads on how to be successful or be better than what they currently are or at, but the truth is that those ideas are worth nothing if you do not invest the necessary time. Put in the time and you will surely enjoy the fruits of your work.

The next step from dreams and visions being connected to time is that, they are also connected to hard work. For many this is taboo, hard work never seems to exist in both their vocabulary and in their daily lives. Ask yourself, how will you achieve anything without putting in the time and hard work? You won’t achieve anything. I know smart heads are already mumbling easier said than done, but bottom line is if you are not disciplined you will never move, you will always be stuck in one place, again wasting a lot of time.

At this moment tell yourself that time wasted is golden and you will do all in your power and might to use all the time you have and stop complaining. No-one can do it for you. Your parents; guardians and loved ones can only take you thus far and the rest is all in your court. GOOD LUCK!!!

FAILURE

Failure is never the end of any life journey; experiences and neither is it the destruction of life dreams under construction nor visions. I would like to view failure in anything as the beginning or the starting point to any journey. Failure makes one aware of possible obstacles that may come their way, and at the same time widening up one’s view in any task. It keeps us on our toes so to speak.

Many of us have failed in so many things, that we have lost count now. We have begun to largely associate ourselves with being incapable of accomplishing anything or let alone start something and see it through. I believe it is that kind of thinking and negativity that hinders us from being a success in all things and becoming goal oriented individuals.

Never forget that “you”, not anyone else holds the keys to becoming successful in your life. Many times as well we blame others for our own faults and misguided decisions. Not completely ruling out that some individuals do contribute to our failures sometimes, just do not dwell on it or allow it to side track you for a long time. By all means analyse any situation and learn all you can from it and take as much positive and negative attributes as you can. This leads to one point I want to make, in order for you to assess a situation and be able to move forward in success. Never forget three types of people in your life, people:-

1.      Who helped you in your difficult time!
2.      Who left you in difficult times!
3.      Who put you in difficult times!

I am not suggesting that you become spiteful, not at all. I am just suggesting that you use these people as stepping stones; as motivating factors both in the negative and positive to avoid failure. Get it out of your head that people will not judge you or talk about you. They will and as time goes on they will double in numbers. Surround yourself with positive energy, with people that motivate you. People that want to see you succeed and become a success. I always say, try not surrounding yourself with people who are exactly the same as you, because if all of you are the same, then the rest are unnecessary. Remember opposites attract.

To be a success means:

S          -           See your goal.
U         -           Understand the obstacles.
C         -           Create a positive mental picture.
C         -           Clear your mind of self-doubt.
E          -          Embrace the challenges.
S          -           Stay on track.
S          -           Show the world you can do it.
